THE CAT BEHIND THE STORIES
Meet the Real Luna
Before she wore an orange dress, Luna was a shy grey cat in our garden in the Hungarian countryside.

The day the cats arrived
When I moved back to the Hungarian countryside, a handsome grey tomcat walked into our garden one day. He wore white socks and a white collar, like a true gentleman. A gentlecat, really. We named him Mr. Face. I called him over, he came, and we became friends.
The next day he brought his whole family: a young tomcat, a shy all-grey mother cat (Luna) and her two kittens. Overnight our garden was full of cats. We fed them, and they stayed.

The shyest of them all
Luna was the most frightened. If we reached out to stroke her, she hissed and scratched. But she watched the others purr and rub against our legs, clearly happy with us, and she wanted that too. She just didn’t know how.
One day she gathered all her courage to rub against my leg, and did it so clumsily that her head bumped loudly into my shin. Day by day she let go of her fears and became the most lovable mother cat. She stayed with us for the rest of her life.
Where the stories come from
Luna is the muse behind Luna’s Whimsy World. In the stories she is still a little shy, a little clumsy and very brave, and now she wears an orange dress. My two-year-old son loves the grey cat in the orange dress, and every new adventure is made with little readers like him in mind.
